Duvet diaries |The Connacht Hotel, Galway

February 1, 2017

I was invited to stay in The Connacht Hotel, Galway which was pretty spectacular. I arrived at The connacht hotel Friday evening with the warmest welcome of greetings from the wonderful girls and gent who look after the main desk. I instantly could feel sense of pride they processed working for one of the most beautiful hotels in Galway. The exceptional high standards hits you instantly, the spotless white marble floors, immaculate decor, nor a floral arrangement out of place. The attention to detail is unwavering throughout the hotel.

The Suite

The room was understated yet glamorous. The suite was divided into two rooms. The first door opened up into a very spacious living area which included a dining area, a living room with sofas, a tv and an office area. This room also featured a kitchen which included an oven, a microwave, kettle, toaster and stove . Which is a fantastic feature as a mum to five year old boy, this would be perfect to nip up snacks for picky eaters. The kitchen was also fully stocked with coffee, tea bags, sugar and milk. My favourite feature to this room was the balcony that reached the entire width of the room. Before bed I purposely left my curtains dawn so that the bright morning light was the first image to greet me. The bedroom was nestled into the next room. The bed ws so incredibly large. I enjoyed the space immensely and slept like a baby. On arrival I was very appreciated to find a large bowl of fresh fruit and a box of Irish hand made chocolates. A second flat screen could be found in the bedroom also. The bathroom was floor to ceiling monochrome white marble with a shower\ bath and toilet. The bathroom lightening I may add is exceptional for doing your makeup in.

Needless to say the balcony was my favourite place. In the morning I would wrap myself up in a blanket and venture out there with my coffee and catch up on emails. I didn’t care it was January and bitterly cold, it was perfect! I could hear the birds singing and in the distant the hustle and bustle of the magic that Galway life has to offer.

The Staff

An extra special nod of appreciation must be given to the staff of The Connacht Hotel. They were always smiling and greeting me warmly. They created a very relaxed and warm environment throughout my stay. From every staff member I had the pleasure of dealing with , from the lady who checked me in, to the gent who took me to my lovely room to the doorman who greeted me friday night, were all friendly and unimposing.

The Cuisine

As I don’t get away much, I naturally made full use of the room service on offer, what can I say I like to feel pampered. So if you are thinking of ordering breakfast in bed, do it! Nestled under the heavy feathered duvets pouring myself a cup of green tea and enjoying a freshly baked croissant in bed is something I could most definitely get used to. The Connacht Hotel also offer wholesome food available morning, noon and night from their in hotel restaurant. Whether you are dining with kids, a loved one, a group of friends or enjoying a family celebration, you can be assured that all your needs will be catered for.

The Connacht Hotel also have one of the best hotel bars in Galway. That offer freshly made cocktails prepared by their in house mixologists. They are also known for creating a great sports atmosphere with all major sporting channels on large screens.

Kids club

The Connacht Hotel is is a family friendly hotel. The hotel prides itself on appreciating how important families are to them. They have thoughtfully created a kids club which is filled with toys, games and friendly staff. The kids club is a safe environment decorated with brightly coloured paint. It is filled with activity programmes to ensure a fun filled family holiday.I am really looking forward to returning to The Connacht Hotel with my son, Dylan for a little family break.

20mm indoor Swimming pool

The Connacht is the perfect choice if you are looking for a hotel with a swimming pool. The hotel has a luxurious 20 metre indoor swimming pool. Large windows surround the pool area filling it with bright natural daylight. Although I missed out on using the pool on this occassion it was easy to see how hugely popualar it is for family activities to suit all ages.It is fitted with a shallow childrens pool area, a jacuzzi, sauna and a steam room are alo situated in the pool vivinity. On my next visit I plan on sitting in the steam room with coconut oil in my hair while feeling utterly and completely relaxed. Changing facilities are secure and there is access to hairdryers and straighteners in the ladies changing room.

24 hour gym

On the tour of the hotel I had to check out their 24 hour gym. Offering from 40 fitness classes to choose from every week along with designated weights and cardio areas. Fully equipped and highly qualified trainers are on hand to guide you. The gym had an extremely welcoming atmosphere it is no wonder it is the popular gym of choice, amongst the locals of Galway.

A huge thanks must be given to to the incredible team at The Connacht Hotel for providing me with the perfect little break. I will definitely be visiting again soon.
