Lip Fillers | Everything you need to know |MyMedical.ie

Grab yourself a cup of tea and let’s begin. Lip fillers – EVERYTHING you need to know!

Lip fillers are EVERYWHERE at the moment! It’s hard not be curious. The three questions I was constantly asking were

  • Does it hurt?

  • What if I didn’t like the results?

  • What if something goes wrong?

Before Lip Fillers

After much consideration I took the leap and had injectable lip fillers. I posted on my social media to send me any questions and I was surprised to receive the high volume of messages from girls of all ages.

I have to admit to hating the term that is being thrown around lately – “having your lips done these days is the same as getting your highlights done.” I couldn’t disagree more. Lip fillers are an aesthetic treatment so there’s always a chance that something could go wrong.  This is why it’s incredibly important to only allow a qualified, reputable professional to do it. Don’t ever be tempted to have your lip fillers at a spa or a beauty salon. For the best results, it is important you choose carefully what clinic you will be having the procedure carried out in. It should not just be an off hand decision made. You need to love the results and more importantly completely trust the Doctor and the clinic.

     After & Before

After much consideration I decided to have injectable lip fillers at Mymedical.ie. They use premium brands, which have been specifically developed to enhance the natural pattern of your lips and mimic a natural chemical naturally found in the body, giving safe, long-lasting and natural looking results.

When it comes to lip fillers I’ve seen it all – the good and the bad. I think the media have us trained to think of unflattering and out of proportion lips when we hear the words “ Lip Filler.” My Medical use  Hyaluronic Acid which is a naturally occurring component of our skin and joints. For lip augmentation, these products provide superior results from the onset.

I think we can thank Kylie Jenner for this craze; but it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. I quite liked the natural shape to my lips, so my aim was to enhance their natural shape while adding plumpness. Thinning lips can make us look older but with a single enhancement procedure by Cherry Lips at My Medical,  your lips will look substantially fuller, younger and more defined.

    14 Days After

    The procedure

I met with Dr Andrea and straight away I felt at ease and knew I was in good hands. We chatted about my desired shape and result.

How long did the procedure take?

The procedure itself took roughly 30 mins.

    Was it painful?

Dr. Andrea applied numbing cream to the area which was amazing. It made the whole procedure pretty much painless. A few pinches here and there but nothing unbearable. I never needed to ask her to stop. She was extremely gentle and each decision was made very carefully. If the person administering the treatment is good, you won’t be in pain. Of course, the discomfort level will mostly depend on your doctor’s technique. To put it into perspective; if your practitioner is good, it shouldn’t be too painful. I would go as far as saying, it shouldn’t  be more uncomfortable than getting your eyebrows or lip threaded. Seriously!

She handed me a mirror and guided me through it. Showing me exactly  where she was going to add a little bit of plumpness and even comparing sides.

    • After a simple procedure, I had new, plumper lips and no longer needed to rely on makeup or other short-term solutions.

      Day 2

      The Results

The effects of the lip filler can be noticed immediately. There is also no special recovery required for these injections, you may experience some slight swelling after the treatment and feel a little bit tender but that doesn’t last more than a few days.

      How long does it last?

This gives you up to 6 months of fuller more shapely lips.

What does it feel like in the days after?

Day 1 – The few hours after having The Lip injectable filler my lips did feel tender and sore.

Day 2 – The swelling had went down dramatically but my lips did still feel a little tender and dry; but not to interfere with my day to day errands, and I was able to continue as I normal would.

Day 3 – The swelling was completely gone, and my lips were not feeling tender anymore. There was still visible slight bruising but nothing I couldn’t hide with a little bit of tinted lipbalm.

On a personal note, I’m overjoyed with the treatment. It’s subtle and completely believable. I developed a tiny bruise that lasted three days and that was the only thing anyone noticed, which you can see in the photo from ( Day 2.)  Friends and family couldn’t pinpoint what was different and instead told me I looked ‘refreshed’, and ‘healthy . I have to admit to being super excited to whip out the liner and lipstick and have some fun! It’s kind of amazing how one tiny ‘tweak’ had such an impact.
